Herod's little place at the beach

If you're fortunate enough to have kitchen bench tops made of Caesarstone, here's where it's made, Caesarea Maritima a little way north of Tel Aviv.

Here too Herod the Great built himself a rather nice place by the sea, complete with swimming pool and hippodrome.

With our friends virtually standing on Herod's balcony overlooking the sea I took the opportunity for another group photo.

  1. So the swimming pool didn't come out of Andrew Lloyd Webber's mind! ;-)

  3. I'm so enjoying seeing all the gorgeous places you've been. I don't know what I had in mind, but the colors there are more vivid than I expected. Those green hills (really, fennel?) are beautiful, and the flowers are stunning. I can't imagine how it must feel to know you're walking - and floating! - where God's own leaders and people once walked. I really appreciate all your posts and pictures of all this. They're wonderful.
