With their squares all rotary cut during last week’s lesson, this week our newbies couldn’t wait to sew them together.
Just look at them all sitting up straight and listening attentively while Di B explains machine needles, thread and the all-important matter of accuracy and the scant 1/4 inch seam.
Sophie managed to pin and line up her squares beautifully.
Sarah pressed her seams in opposite directions for each row so they would “nest” together perfectly when she came to pin and sew them.
Caroline’s caught the quilting bug!
It’s a pity Judy was clearly not having a good time
With their quilt tops finished faster than expected, some of our newbies, like Maud, went on to learn how to sandwich their quilt tops, batting and backings together ready for machine quilting in the next lesson.
It’s hard to say who’s having the most fun here – our novice quilters or the teachers, Team Di!
Fun stuff!! I think it would be a great way to meet people when I move to host a learn-to-quilt day. Or a quilt-in-a-day day. . . hmmm. . . something to look forward to!
