Daisy a Day

Have you noticed I’ve gone a little quiet lately on the subject of my Daisy a Day quilt?

If you say it quickly (and perhaps underwater!) “Daisy a Day” can sound like “lazier days” - and that, my dear readers, describes what’s been happening around here. At least as far as quilting’s concerned.

December has been full of shopping, end of year break-ups and Christmas parties. We even had another graduation in the family, to match Sarah’s December graduation last year.Sarah's PhD Graduation-1

In this post I was confident silly enough to claim that

1) I could make “a daisy a day”, and

2) Another 16 daisies and I’d be done.

I wish!

Don’t misunderstand me, I’m in love with everything about this quilt. It’s just that I can’t wait to see it finished and in use. It’s become clear, though, that I’m going to need many more daisies if it’s to cover the bed properly, and rather than piecing “a daisy a day” I seem to be currently averaging a rather more laggardly “four daisies a week”.

That doesn’t have quite the same ring to it, does itEye rolling smile?

But, as all quilters know, creating a quilt is as much about the journey as the destination, and for now I’m simply enjoying the ride.

Are you?

I am looking forward to getting back to my sewing when all my house guests have left on Thursday. And tomorrow I plan to visit Spotlight to nab some more fabric!

  2. This quilt is just beautiful with all these bright clean colours against the white background. It looks wonderful and I have so enjoying watching your progress. Congrats to Xan on her graduation ... and she will be very much in my thoughts and prayers as she begins a new chapter in her life at "real school" in a few weeks time. Hoping that January will give you a little more time to perhaps attempt your 'Daisy a Day" XX

  3. Di, the Christmas/New Year period is a time in which I don't expect to accomplish much by way of sewing......and so far I have never been disappointed! Your daisies are gorgeous and it will be a stunning quilt when finished. I have a 'journey' quilt too, it will notch up its 6th birthday at Easter and the blocks are nowhere near done yet.

  5. The colors in this Daisy quilt are stunning! You've done such a wonderful job combining them to make something so eye-catching and appealing. I love it! No worries about not making a daisy a day during this time of year. Other things are way more important, as we both know. Stay bright. Have fun!
