Di denies THOSE rumours ….

I imagine that got your attention, didn’t it?

Just when blogland was abuzz with speculation that I’d walked off into the sunset (see my last post), or taken off on another overseas trip (I wish!), or fallen out of love with my dear readers (never!), or come to a full stop with a terminal case of writer’s block (me?) - I’m back!

The ugly truth is that I’ve had my first bout with shingles (in my head and eye) with pain excruciating enough to require IV morphine in hospital. The shingles have gone, I’m pleased to say, but the malady lingers on in the form of a vicious headache. I’ll spare you the details, merely revealing that my doctor has decided I’m run down (who isn’t?), and wagging her finger at me with instructions to do nothing for a month.

Still, I have much to be thankful for, not least being the fact that you, my lovely readers, have continued to visit me here, even when I wasn’t keeping to my end of the reader/blogger bargain. I know you’ve been here (even if you just tiptoed to the door and took a quick peek), because my little counter tells me I’ve actually had more visits during this February of no posts than I had in June 2008 when there were five posts!

So, thank you for caring, and for not giving up on me yet. As Mark Twain is reported to have said, “Rumours of my demise are greatly exaggerated.”

  2. Oh Di, as one who suffered a bout of shingles last year (on my body not my face thank goodness) I can sympathise. Take it easy. I prescribe a judicious amount hand-piecing with regular cups of your favourite tipple delivered to your chair side.

  3. Now this sounds more like the old Di... Welcome back, we've all missed you.
Can we trust you to listen to your wise Doc I wonder...

If you don't I'll personally come over and sit on you! How's that for a threat! :-)

  5. I have 3 siblings all of whom have had the shingles. I have a prescription for the vaccination but haven't gotten it yet - you've just given me the boost I need to go to the pharmacy to do that! Glad you're feeling better! blessings, marlene
