I want to make this quilt!!!!

But might need to live to be 100 to achieve it. Stupendous! Magnificent! ... words fail me, actually. I'm talking about this stunning new creation by the hugely talented Kim McLean, using Kaffe Fassett fabrics. It's a winning combination!

I think I need to get some sleep. Moi make this quilt? In my dreams!

Monday musings

Still taking things very quietly here, so nothing very exciting to blog about.

However I am…

Feeling blessed…to have generous, caring friends.

Listening …to Maeve Binchy’s “Nights of Rain and Stars” on my iPod, being read ever-so-soothingly by Maeve’s cousin Kate Binchy. Love that Irish accent.

PerusingAudible for the next audiobook I’ll download. So many choices to spend my credits on. Hmmmm…

Wondering…who was important enough to be escorted by around eight police motorcycles and almost as many police cars past my home this morning, and on a return trip this afternoon.

Hand-stitching…scrappy hexagons and appliqueeing them to the final border of the English Quilt.

Looking forward to…my daily hugs and giggles with The Princess after day care, as we watch “Big Barn Farm” and “Charlie and Lola” together.

Hoping…the throbbing, aching pain I’ve been experiencing in my left eye for the last two days doesn’t herald the return of my shingles.

Sisterhood Award

If there is one bloggy pal who I can always count on for encouragement and support it's Lindi. And now look at this award she's just bestowed on me.

Now to the award -The rules connected to the award are:

1. Put the logo on your blog or post

2. Nominate at least 10 blogs which show great Attitude and/or Gratitude!

3. Be sure to link to your nominees within your post.

4. Let them know that they have received this award by commenting on their blog.

5. Share the love and link to the person from whom you received your award.
Most of the bloggers whose posts I follow seem to have already received this award (I only hang out with wonderful bloggers who show great Attitude and/or Gratitude LOL), so if you enjoy reading my blog and regard yourself as a sister, consider yourself nominated, my friend!
However I might nominate just a few who haven't been awarded yet (in no particular order) - Marlene , Jennifer , Linda and Di

Heather’s leading the parade!

Over at Heather Bailey’s deliciously zesty-looking blog she’s hosting her second annual March of the Tools (March, get it?).

My favourite has to be a very cool desk item that was actually designed to hold paper clips.  However some very dear friends gave it to me for a Significant Birthday last year with the instruction that I was to use it for my pins.

So here it us (ta daaa) – my very smooth and sophisticated Georg Jensen stainless steel magnetic paper clip quilting pin holder.

“Easy Virtue” – have you seen it yet?

As I mentioned over and over just a couple of times previously, a very talented member of my family co-wrote this romp, a re-jigged Noel Coward play.  After months of reading warm reviews from Film Festivals across the world it’s finally arrived here in Sydney.

If you don’t know what it’s about, this blogger has assembled all the glittering reviews in one place.  Read them and you’ll want to rush out, grab some  popcorn and enjoy it for yourself at a cinema near you – as they say in the classics!

The golden city

Being a good blogger I carry my trusty little digital camera absolutely everywhere I go – even into hospital.  So let me share with you the wonderfully therapeutic view that greeted me every morning from my bed in isolation.

IMG_9790-1 I only needed to open my eyes and turn to the right to see these city skyscrapers bathed in gold, while late afternoon was the time for the trees in the park across the road to be kissed by the setting sun.

IMG_9789 Talk about feeling blessed!

A delicious giveaway - but you'll have to hop to it!

One of the nicest things about an enforced rest is having the time to read and discover new blogs and make new bloggy friends...and enter giveaways!

Vanessa is having one of the most generous giveaways I've seen - two Moda honey buns! (and don't they look luscious?) But you'll have to hurry because it finishes on Thursday morning (she lives in the USA) and it's already Thursday morning here in Australia!

Go for it! And may the luckiest person win! (hope it's you or me!)

Di denies THOSE rumours ….

I imagine that got your attention, didn’t it?

Just when blogland was abuzz with speculation that I’d walked off into the sunset (see my last post), or taken off on another overseas trip (I wish!), or fallen out of love with my dear readers (never!), or come to a full stop with a terminal case of writer’s block (me?) - I’m back!

The ugly truth is that I’ve had my first bout with shingles (in my head and eye) with pain excruciating enough to require IV morphine in hospital. The shingles have gone, I’m pleased to say, but the malady lingers on in the form of a vicious headache. I’ll spare you the details, merely revealing that my doctor has decided I’m run down (who isn’t?), and wagging her finger at me with instructions to do nothing for a month.

Still, I have much to be thankful for, not least being the fact that you, my lovely readers, have continued to visit me here, even when I wasn’t keeping to my end of the reader/blogger bargain. I know you’ve been here (even if you just tiptoed to the door and took a quick peek), because my little counter tells me I’ve actually had more visits during this February of no posts than I had in June 2008 when there were five posts!

So, thank you for caring, and for not giving up on me yet. As Mark Twain is reported to have said, “Rumours of my demise are greatly exaggerated.”
